On 24 of March, 2011, there will be conducted Forum on World TB Day in the conference hall of Nukus Branch of Tashkent University of Informational Technologies, organized in collaboration of regional and international organizations contributing into elimination of TB. The main objective of the forum is raising awareness about TB in Karakalpakstan, as well as informing about efforts of all organizations and agencies directing all efforts on prevention and elimination of the disease.

 Every year on March 24, the world community summarizes the achievements of organizations and individuals in the fight against tuberculosis, a disease that still continues to spread and requires special attention. The Government of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan pay special attention to TB control. Therefore, during recent years a lot of efforts are exerted in Karakalpakstan for full development of public health in the region. As part of overall efforts, raising awareness has been and remains as an essential part of the struggle towards elimination of TB. Within this year, we are again joined to reach out to the public to address awareness level. 

 The Forum will generally give an overview of the incidence of TB in Karakalpakstan, and it will be an event attended by government representatives of the republic, as well as a number of organizations implementing measures to eliminate TB in the region. They are as the following: Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, Ministry of Health of Karakalpakstan, Republican Women’s Committee of Karakalpakstan, Republican TB Dispensary, UNDP in Uzbekistan, UNFPA in Uzbekistan, UNV in Uzbekistan, WHO, MSF, Mahalla Fund, Uzbek Association for Reproductive Health.
