The official visit of guests from UNV Headquarter in Bonn (Germany) to Uzbekistan, Mr. Ghulam Isaczai–UNV Director of Programmes and Ms. Olga Devyatkin–UNV Portfolio Manager for Europe and CIS, started with attending the Forum on World TB Day on 24 of March, 2011 organized within the frame of UNDP/UNV Project “Empowering Communities through Local Volunteerism to address Poverty and Tuberculosis in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan” with the participation of the local partners and international partner organizations.

 On 24 of March, 2011, there will be conducted Forum on World TB Day in the conference hall of Nukus Branch of Tashkent University of Informational Technologies, organized in collaboration of regional and international organizations contributing into elimination of TB. The main objective of the forum is raising awareness about TB in Karakalpakstan, as well as informing about efforts of all organizations and agencies directing all efforts on prevention and elimination of the disease.

8th March 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day.  To celebrate this great day, the regional gender team at Bratislava put together stories of women from the region whose lives UNDP has touched. 

On January 21, 2011 inauguration of three gasification projects and one project on electricity supply in target communities of Takhtakupir district of Karakalpakstan took place within the UNDP “Area Based Development (ABD)” project.
